In this project the British Embassy is offering support to Dominican authorities to assist in the modernisation and reform of the Dominican Prison Service. This has led to 10 new model prisons in the D.R. and the beginning of the process in Haiti.

The Embassy provides the services of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s prisons expert, Nicholas Brooke, who makes 4 visit a year to work together with the Attorney General’s Office to set procedures and in the drafting of the Strategic Plan for further development reform project.
