How to register a marriage or birth

Registering a marriage or birth

We don't perform Consular marriages for British nationals in the Dominican Republic.

However, if you are British and would like your Dominican marriage recognised in England, then you can register your marriage with the General Registrar Office, UK.  To do this, you will need your marriage documents translated by a Dominican sworn public translator and then get it legalised at one of our Consular offices.

For further details, please visit www.gro.gov.uk.

Obtaining copies of the certificate in the future

You’ll be able to obtain certified copies of the certificate from the General Registry Office from the March of the year after registration. If you need a copy before then you should contact us.
