UK effort in Haiti

On 12 January an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 struck Haiti about 10 miles south-west of the capital Port au Prince. There is an international aid effort underway.

Reduction targets

Countries are to come forward with their national 2020 carbon reduction targets by 31 January 2010, under agreements made in the Copenhagen Accord.

A British team of 64 search and rescue experts from fire services around the UK are on the ground in Haiti, helping where they are most needed.

Earthquake in Haiti

Foreign Office Minister, Baroness Kinnock "shocked and saddened" by news of the effects of the earthquake in Haiti. Efforts of FCO consular staff to contact British nationals in Haiti are continuing.
